Being asked to undertake an audition is undoubtedly a daunting process. You’ll be nervous, we all know that, but we will do everything in our power to put you at ease so that you can do your best.
Our audition process is run over two rehearsal sessions.
We ask you to come along to a rehearsal and listen to the style of music that we sing so you can be confident that our group is the right choice for you. At the end of the session our MD will give you a short vocal test, just a couple of scales, so that he can determine what type of voice you have - soprano, alto tenor or bass.
You will then be given a short, simple piece of music to take away and study. It's usually a well-known piece, something that you will most probably already be fimaliar with. You will be provided access to ‘teach tracks’ to help you learn the piece and your part.
At the beginning of the next rehearsal you will be asked to sing the piece along with three other voices. Sounds daunting, I know, but it really is quite simple and straightforward and we will do everything to make it enjoyable.
